Clearer, Younger Skin Today

Your skin is your body’s first line of defense, and it is often where the damage of time is most visible.

Along the way, you may have tried everything in the skincare section, but nothing has been able to help those hard-to-heal areas of your skin.

White Hill Clinic in Sydney is here to answer all the questions you have about skin lesion removal and to help your skin look younger and healthier.

What is Skin Lesion Removal?

Skin lesions appear in many forms and have a wide variety of causes.

Some are caused by exposure to the elements, exercise, or other natural processes. Others may be caused by infections, disease, or other health conditions. Regardless of the reason for the lesions on your skin, White Hill Clinic can help. Some of the types of lesions we treat include:

  • Cysts
  • Moles
  • Skin tags
  • Nodules
  • Macules/patches

While some skin lesions can indicate more serious issues (like melanoma or skin cancer), we will be sure to discuss all of the possibilities with you. If after consultation it has been determined that removal is the best option, we will talk you through each part of the process to ensure that you feel safe and comfortable every step of the way.

Benefits of Skin Lesion Removal

The removal of skin lesions can have numerous positive effects on your life. Looking better with cleaner, clearer skin is obvious, but removing itchy or scratchy spots from your body can leave you feeling better too. Some skin lesions can be rather painful, so removing them can provide relief you will enjoy every day.

Some skin lesions can be caused by more serious underlying conditions, so taking a close look at them and often removing them can save you time, money, and pain in the future. Our trained, professional staff has years of experience treating and removing all kinds of skin lesions, so they have the skills and experience to effectively treat your skin.

Am I a Candidate for Skin Lesion Removal?

If you have lesions and have tried non-surgical treatment methods — medicines, creams, lotions, or other over-the-counter options — but have not seen any improvement in your skin’s condition, removal may be the best option for you.

Good candidates for skin lesion removal and people who are generally in good health otherwise. Having good skin elasticity and hygiene are both important to make sure the procedure goes smoothly and recovery goes relatively easily as well. As always, it is advised that you check with your primary care doctor when considering any surgical treatments.

Skin Lesion Removal
Procedure

There are many techniques for removing skin lesions, so the classification, location, and extent of the lesion will usually indicate the best procedure for you. Some of the techniques used include:

  • Shave or scissor excision — if the lesion rises above the skin, a blade or scissors can be used to safely remove the affected skin.
  • Full-thickness excision — if the lesion affects deeper levels of the skin (including down to the fat), a scalpel will be used to cut around and below the lesion. This incision will then be treated and sealed, usually using stitches.
  • Electrodesiccation — this procedure uses a high-frequency electrical current to remove a lesion when full-thickness excision is unnecessary.
  • Cryotherapy — in some cases as with warts, the affected skin cells can be frozen. This destroys the damaged cells and allows for their removal.
  • Laser excision — this procedure uses a laser to apply bursts of energy to destroy the affected cells

During your consultation with the staff at White Hill Clinic, we will work with you to customize a plan that fits your particular situation and needs most effectively.

Your Recovery from Skin Lesion Removal

The process of recovery from a skin lesion removal procedure is usually very easy and quick, but there will be some variation depending on the technique used and your skin’s particular condition. Often, the recovery process involves no more than ointment and bandages. Others may require more ongoing care if sutures are necessary, but most people should be fully recovered within one to two weeks.

Skin Lesion Removal Results

Results from skin lesion removal procedures may vary depending on the type of lesion and the presence of any underlying causes. Clearer skin is typically noticeable once bandages and any stitches have been removed and any redness, swelling, or scarring has resolved.

If your lesion was causing you pain, irritation, or discomfort, that should all be gone once the recovery process is complete. In some cases, lesions can recur in other areas if an underlying condition goes unaddressed, but the doctors at White Hill Clinic will discuss these possibilities with you. Generally, patients who undergo skin lesion removal have long-lasting, positive results.
