There are few things more frustrating than killing it for months in the gym or on the treadmill, only to see the same trouble spots whenever you’re trying to look your best. Liposuction in Sydney at White Hill Clinic can help eliminate those pesky bulges by permanently removing fat cells from the body.
Liposuction is a fat removal procedure. It is usually performed for cosmetic reasons, but there are medical reasons for liposuction as well.
It is one of the most common aesthetic procedures, and White Hill Clinic has performed hundreds of these procedures over the last 2 years. Liposuction is usually performed electively to remove unwanted fat deposits from the body, positively changing the shape or contours of the body. In certain medical conditions (lipedema, lymphedema, lipomas), liposuction can be a useful method of treatment or reconstruction. The procedures we perform are considered low to medium volume (less than 2.5 litres).
This means recovery times are usually on the shorter end of the spectrum, however every person’s recovery process is different. White Hill Clinic is affiliated with a licensed Plastic Surgeon, which means he is often available to oversee treatments to ensure your health and safety. In addition, all of our treatments are tailored to your skin type, concerns, and desired outcome.
Liposuction may be a good option for people who have a few areas of fat they just cannot seem to get rid of through diet and exercise. Liposuction is not a “miracle cure” and should not be considered a replacement for a healthy lifestyle. However, liposuction can be very helpful for dealing with problem areas and fine-tuning your body’s shape. At White Hill Clinic, we offer liposuction to reduce body fat and add definition in the following areas:
Liposuction is generally regarded as a safe procedure and has a very low rate of complications (around 5%, with most complications being minor). Once the fat is removed from the targeted area, it is usually relatively permanent, provided that you maintain a healthy diet and exercise. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells, but it does not prevent accumulation of new fat, so diet and exercise are still essential to maintaining your results.
People who are good candidates for liposuction are generally in good health. Candidates generally should be within 30% of their ideal, healthy weight and have good skin elasticity and muscle tone.
People with chronic medical conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or immunodeficiencies should not consider elective surgeries because of potential complications these conditions can cause. Candidates also should be non-smokers and have healthy expectations about how the procedure will impact their life. As with all cosmetic procedures, you should only consider liposuction only for your own desires and well-being.
During your consultation, we will review your health history and help you determine if you have any pre-existing conditions that may impact your eligibility for liposuction in Sydney. Liposuction is one of many body sculpting procedures we offer at White Hill Clinic, so there may be another route we can take to get you to your desired results.
Liposuction is usually an outpatient procedure, which means you will likely be sent home the same day as your treatment. Each procedure White Hill Clinic performs is customised to the specific patient, so the process of your exact procedure will vary.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, local, regional, or general anesthesia may be used. A small incision is then made in the skin to allow for the insertion of a small hollow tube known as a “cannula”. Fat is then gently pulled through the cannula and out of the body using a vacuum. The administrator moves the wand around the targeted region to evenly remove the fat cells.
There are also several techniques to amplify this effect by breaking up the fat to be siphoned out of the body. The removed fat is conducted through the tube and into a collection container. This “aspirate” may then be disposed of, or used for fat transfers to another part of the body (such as the face, breasts, buttocks, chin) if you so desire.
Liposuction is considered a relatively easy procedure from which to recover, although every patient’s experience will be different. Usually, patients are able to return to work within a day or two of their procedure, and fully resume normal activities within two weeks. Most patients can expect to see some bruising, swelling, and/or tenderness around the treated region, and you might notice some fluid retention in the days following the surgery. These symptoms generally dissipate within a week of the procedure.
Depending on your custom procedure plan, your doctor may recommend particular medicines, devices, or techniques to aid in recovery. It will also be important to protect any incision sites from stress and infection while they heal. Before and after your procedure, we will also answer all of your questions about your recovery process and be available should any new questions arise. In the unlikely case of an emergency, you should always contact emergency services for immediate assistance.
Following your liposuction procedure and recovery, you can generally expect to see lasting results. Once any swelling, bruising, and fluid retention go away, you should be able to notice improved contours of your body. While your body will change and age naturally, your results will generally be apparent for many years.
We can typically expect great results from your procedure. However, it is important to keep in mind that there can be no guarantees. Liposuction itself cannot improve skin elasticity which plays a large role in satisfaction with cosmetic procedures, and, in some situations, it is impossible to realize optimal results with just one surgery.
It will be critical to keep a stable body weight and general fitness to keep your body looking its best after your procedure. Maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen in order to enjoy long-lasting positive results from your liposuction, and be sure to follow all your doctor’s instructions.
