Heal Scars and Regrow Hair Today
Scars and hair loss can happen to anyone. Fortunately, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections at White Hill Clinic are here to help.
No matter how you got your scars — whether from an accident or surgery — and no matter what you have tried before, sometimes they just will not go away. Or maybe you have places on your head or body where the hair just will not grow back. In either of these situations, PRP injections may be the solution you are looking for.
White Hill Clinic in Inner West Sydney is home to a team of industry professionals trained in PRP injections, as well as a wide variety of cosmetic procedures. Named “New Practice of the Year, Australia” by the MyFaceMyBody Awards in 2020, we are committed to delivering quality care through PRP injections and other advanced cosmetic treatments.
What are PRP Injections?
PRP injections are used in the medical world to treat a variety of conditions, from tendonitis to arthritis to acute sports injuries. While you may have only heard of “vampire facials,” PRP injections are being used in the cosmetic surgery field as an answer to baldness, scars, and ageing skin, and are often used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation techniques like microneedling.
In all of its applications, PRP is derived from the patient’s own blood. After drawing a sufficient amount, the blood is then processed in a sterile environment to separate the PRP from other components. This PRP is then injected or applied to the desired area. Usually, the entire process can be performed in an hour or so depending on the extent of the treatment.
Benefits of PRP Injections
While research into PRP injection efficacy is ongoing, they are believed to be helpful in a variety of situations to aid the body in healing itself.
Because it uses compounds drawn from the patient themselves, the risk of complications is relatively low when performed in a clean, sterile environment like the one you will find at White Hill Clinic. In cosmetic and skincare applications, PRP injections may be effective in treating a variety of conditions, including:
- Scars
- Wrinkles
- Sagging skin
- Androgenic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness)
If you are struggling with any of these conditions, White Hill Clinic will work with you to find out if PRP injections would be a good treatment option for you.

Am I a candidate for PRP Injections?
People who are good candidates for PRP injections are typically in good health otherwise. Having skin that is resilient and in good condition is important for healing well. Also, having realistic expectations is important, and all of the potential benefits and risks will be discussed thoroughly during your consultation.
If you have below-average platelet function, low platelet count, anemia, cancer, or any kind of blood disease or infection, you should not undergo a PRP injection procedure. If you take any blood-thinning medication or certain supplements, you will probably be asked to stop before your procedure. As always, you should discuss any potential cosmetic procedures with your primary doctor beforehand.
PRP Injection Procedure
The PRP injection treatment begins by drawing blood from you, usually between 10-100 milliliters depending on the extent of the treatment. This blood is then placed into a centrifuge and processed to separate the PRP from the red blood cells and platelet-poor plasma. The area to be treated is cleaned thoroughly and a topical anesthetic is used as needed.
The PRP is then injected into the target area, sometimes injecting the PRP into multiple sites if the targeted area is larger. When combined with microneedling, the PRP is often applied directly to the skin and then the microneedles are used to push the PRP into the skin as in a “vampire facial.” Following injection, the area is cleaned and bandaged. Typical PRP injection procedures can take less than an hour.
Recovery from your PRP Injections
PRP injection procedures typically take just a few days to fully recover from. Usually, you will want to avoid washing the treated areas for 48 hours, but care should be taken to protect them. You may notice some swelling or bruising as is typical with cosmetic treatments, but this should resolve within a day or two.
PRP Injection Results
The results from your PRP injections can take some time before being realised, sometimes a few weeks. Depending on the condition being treated, you may not see full results for up to six months, so patience will be important. Also, your customised treatment plan may require follow-up visits or treatments. In the long run, you should see visible improvement in the treated area, from reduced lines and wrinkles to greater skin health to hair regrowth, depending on your individual goals of the procedure. Some treatments may require maintenance procedures, but overall you should notice long-lasting improvements from your treatments.
